Job Description
Our client based in Great Yarmouth are looking for a R&D Manager to join their team on a staff basis.
Key Duties:
• Oversee the development process of new in-house products (“NPD”) from ideation to launch within the stage gate process.
• Innovate and conceptualize new product designs to maintain competitiveness in the market.
• Lead efforts in enhancing the performance and features of existing STR products.
• Managing a team of R&D Electronic Development, and Software Engineers, which includes setting and monitoring objectives, annual reviews and ensuring day to day people management tasks are completed.
• Ensuring the team are fully motivated, committed and are a high performing, reliable team
• Responsible for department recruitment, training, and other line management responsibilities
• Responsible for handover of all deliverables to successfully launch new products, including design verification, bills of materials, manufacture build & test procedures and staff training.
• A positive ambassador of the company’s values.
• Interfacing and working closely with other managers (Production, Procurement, Sales, Ops, Finance, QHSE) and senior management (Regional Directors, Marketing, HR, and C-Suite)
• Project management of new product developments including labour resource, time, and material budgets.
• Adhere to all STR policies and procedures.
• To carry out other duties as required.
Desired Qualities/Qualifications
Experience & Qualifications:
• Previous experience in electronic engineering design is essential
• Knowledge and experience of technical product design & manufacture processes.
• Experience of subsea/offshore electronics/design, preferred but not essential.
• Strong knowledge in electronics, with good awareness of electrical, mechanical, software/Firmware is essential.
• Engineering qualifications to BEng level or equivalent preferred / equivalent experience essential.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills.
