Job Description
Our client based in Aberdeen are looking for a HSE Advisor to join their team on a 18month contract basis.
Requirements
• The HSE Advisor must be able to demonstrate experience in the implementation and management of:
• Knowledge of marine and offshore operations, relevant legislation and class rules, and IT applications
• Relevant experience in shipboard management and/ or safety related activities within the shipping or offshore industry.
Roles and Responsibilities
The HSE Advisor will be familiar, and comply with the Company’s Health, Safety, Security, Environment, Quality and Energy Management Policy and take an active role in compliance and improvement of the Management Systems.
The primary HSEQ related responsibilities of the HSE Advisor include but are not limited to:
• Reviewing and maintaining respective responsible items within the Safety Management Modules of STAR IPS
• Reviewing and maintaining HSE related items within the Shipboard Reporting System
• Maintaining records of accident reporting, initiating investigations when and where necessary and following up on corrective actions.
• Carrying out reporting to authorities and company Senior Management as required.
• Analysing Event and Safety Observation data for assigned vessel(s).
• Participating actively in development of improved safe systems at work and assisting in preparation of accompanying material, for example Operational Risk Assessments.
• Issuing professional HSE related advice to Shipboard Management, Safety Representatives and other members of the Vessel Management Team.
• Provide information and training on risk management processes and safe systems of work.
• Acting on matters affecting or related to health, safety and welfare of marine personnel, regardless of whether employed by Company or sub-contracted and matters relating to environmental protection.
• Participating in maintenance and improvement of the Management System, including documentation and records as appropriate.
• Initiating, planning and carrying out audits to Shipboard Management system as required and reporting findings at management meetings, issuing recommendations for improvement.
• Following up on corrective actions within the context of HSE in consequence of external and internal audit and inspection reports.
• Keeping updated on legislation affecting health, safety, welfare and environmental protection, disseminating regulations, Safety Notices and other relevant information and informing management offshore and onshore of proceedings.
Desired Qualities/Qualifications
Good 5 years of onshore experience (UK Sector) plus NESBOSH diploma
